Sri Lanka tile plant hit by strike

Sep 02, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lankan tile manufacturer Lanka Floortiles said production had been hit by a strike at its plant Jalatara, Ranala, south of the capital Colombo.
“There is a work stoppage at the company’s factory at Jalatara, Ranala, since the evening of September 01, 2011 due to a dispute between the management and the work force,” the company said in a stock exchange filing.
Lanka Floortiles, which manufactures ceramic glazed floor tiles, is a subsidiary of Lanka Walltile, which is itself a subsidiary of the Lanka Ceramic Group, a member of the Ceylon Theatres group.
