Nordea workers across Finland staged a walkout Friday afternoon in protest against job cuts, shutting many branches.
The Sweden-headquartered bancassurer had said Monday it would cut some 2,000 jobs, including some 650 in Finland.
Nordea said it would be able to keep some branches open, with debit and credit cards and online banking expected to function normally.
Paula Hopponen, a chief shop steward, said workers would return to work Monday morning.
Hopponen characterised the walkout as a spontaneous protest.
“People are truly shocked by Monday’s news,” she said.
