Police have restored order at Makerere University after students went on strike on Wednesday demanding for lecturers to resume.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Grace Turyagumanawe, said the situation normalized after Police used reasonable force to calm the disgruntled students.
Turyagumanawe denied reports that students had been arrested.
He however, warned that Police will continue patrolling the campus until business gets back to normal.
Students and Police were engaged in running battles as students wanted to match to Parliament to present their petition following a week-long strike of the lecturers which affected their studies.
Although lecturers on Tuesday resolved to end the strike as Government looks into their grievances, there were no lecturers today.
Lecturer rooms and some faculties remained closed. The main gate was closed by the striking students who paralyzed business at campus.
