ALTADENA – A call about alleged gang members drinking on the street led to a deputy getting into a fight and five people being arrested Monday night.
One of the suspects was Tasered and later taken to a hospital, according to Lt. Marjory Jacobs.
None of the deputies or Pasadena officers who helped on the incident were reported injured.
She said it began at 11:15 p.m. when someone reported 10 to 15 gang members hanging out, partying and drinking on Raymond Lane and Sacramento Street.
Four deputies responded.
Jacobs said a deputy made contact with one man from the group who yelled at the officer. When the deputy later used a Taser on the man, she said people surrounded the deputy.
One of the deputies called for backup as the crowd grew and wouldn’t disperse, according to Jacobs.
Pasadena police, a helicopter and deputies from Temple station and Crescenta Valley station assisted.
Five people were later arrested on suspicion of trying to incite a riot. They haven’t been booked late Monday night so their names, ages and cities of residence weren’t available yet.
