The indefinite strike called by the contractual miners and staff of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL) continued for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday, suspending production at the coal mine.
The strikers like the previous four days were seen sitting idle in front of the residential gate of the Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL) since morning to realise their demands.
The agitated miners and staff virtually kept the officials and employees of the coal mine confined to their workplace.
The miners began the strike on Tuesday demanding regularisation of their jobs along with other facilities, suspending coal production, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.
On August 21, the leaders of miners’ and workers’ union announced the programme at a press conference at Dinajpur Press Club to realise their demand.
