VEHARI – The ratio of protest rallies, sit-ins and road blockades is increasing rapidly especially because of uncooperative police officials who refuse to register cases, TheNation has learnt.
During the last quarter, as many as 64 rallies were taken out and 85 road blockades were occurred in the district. This is very alarming situation for the authorities that the people take to the streets in the forms of crowds to get their demands fulfilled. During the period, 61 road blockades out of 85 were against the police department because police officials were not ready to register FIRs. Therefore, the authorities should keep in mind that the wheel of progress in a country is stopped when people start blocking roads while carrying placards and chanting slogans.
Zubaida Hassan, a gender specialist, said that slow process of justice was the main reason of demonstrations and road blockades. When people find themselves insecure, they try to get the desired thing with their own hands, she said and termed trust deficit on departments is another reason of such incidents.
