A Section of teachers from some primary Schools in Kampala on Wednesday staged a sit down strike demanding that Government increases they pay immediately.
Teachers of KCC primary School and St. Peters’ Primary, yesterday refused to teach the pupils and sat in group in the staff room and others in the compound.
Commotion reigned particularly at St. Peters Primary as pupils spent almost the whole day loitering in the compound.
At KCC Primary School, pupils were kept in classrooms.
The National teachers’ union (UNATU) on Tuesday wrote to all schools calling off the strike.
The association heads, in a the letter communicated that they were scheduled to meet teachers representatives from all districts in the country, and thereafter meet President Yoweri Museveni over teachers’ salaries on Thursday.
