Student killed in School strike

A senior six student of Ruyonza School in Bushenyi district was on Wednesday allegedly stabbed to death by his fellow students during a violent students’ strike.

The students were protesting what they termed as poor administration and being undermined by their teachers.

The deceased student identified as Daniel Kyagamba hailed from Ntungamo district. He is said to have been convincing his fellow students to call off the strike.

The incident occurred at about 2 am. The school has been closed and the rioting students have been ordered to immediately go home. Police have been deployed at the premises.

Meanwhile at the neighboring Plus Two High School, senior four candidates been sent home for allegedly trying to persuade other students to stage a strike.

The candidates are reported to have refused to take food which they said was bad and rationed. Police have also deployed at the School.

Norman Rukumu, the Bushenyi district Education officer, described the strikes as unfortunate.
