Repsol shuts Bilbao refinery units due to strike

LONDON, July 21 (Reuters) – Repsol began shutting production units at its 220,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Bilbao refinery due to a strike, according to a notice on the website of the Spanish oil and gas company’s subsidiary Petronor on Thursday.

Around 80,000 bpd barrels per day of crude will not be processed as a result of the industrial action, but output will be ramped up in the following week to compensate for lost production, a spokesman said.

As recently as last week, Repsol said it was restarting units at the refinery after routine maintenance on-and-off throughout the year.
