San Francisco police chief shouted down at meeting

SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco’s police chief was shouted down at a community meeting meant to address concerns about the fatal weekend shooting of a Washington parolee by officers.

Footage on KTVU-TV showed a chaotic scene as Chief Greg Suhr tried to speak over shouts and curses at a packed community hall Wednesday evening near the scene of the shooting in the city’s Bayview neighborhood.

Suhr attempted to speak for about an hour before leaving the meeting.

Investigators say 19-year-old Kenneth Harding had gun residue on his hand, which Suhr says backs officers’ accounts that Harding fired first during a chase Saturday.

But tensions were inflamed by a video posted to YouTube apparently showing Harding bleeding to death as officers surrounded him with guns drawn for nearly two minutes before offering assistance.
