Bushenyi School closed over strike

St. Francis Secondary School in Bitooma sub county Bushenyi district was on Tuesday morning closed following a violent students’ strike on Monday night.

The students burnt down a teacher’s house, school canteen, destroyed window glasses among other school properties.

The students went on strike protesting against the administration’s failure to connect electricity to the school, alleged teachers’ continued use of abusive language and poor feeding among other grievances.

Bushenyi Police Chief, Joab Wabwire said by the time Police arrived at the school, property worth millions of shillings had already been destroyed.

This is the second school to be closed in Bushenyi district over a students’ strike in a period of one month. St. Kaggwa SS was closed recently.
