Train service partially restored after strike

Sukkur—Railway authorities call retired employees to offset strike by locomotive staff.

The loco running staff earlier went on strike in protest against the death of a colleague’s daughter after the roof of their rail quarters caved in.

Six trains were stranded in Rohri are adjoining stations. The rail bosses called ex-staff to resume the service. The step was taken after talks with the estranged staff collapsed.

However, some of the passenger trains were still stranded at some junctions, with worried commuters calling for immediate restoration of full service.—Newswire
