Sixty families protest in front of Cairo council of ministers’ headquarters

Sixty families from Egypt’s shantytowns gathered on Saturday in front of the council of ministers to protest the decision on their housing situation by the Cairo governor’s office.

The families were informed by the Cairo governor general secretary on Saturday morning that they will be provided with housing on Wahat Road instead of the Orascom housing units.

The families object to the new area because it is completely unequipped with services and located far away in the vast Cairo city from their work.

Many families had been previously demonstrating in front of the state TV building, Maspero, calling for quick placement in homes.
