Srinagar, June 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Indian police personnel used brute force and resorted to baton charge unemployed ITI diploma holders at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. Half a dozen persons were injured in the incident.
The protest was organised by Unemployed ITI Electrician Diploma Holders Association.
The diploma holders, while raising slogans in support of their demands burnt the copies of their certificates, said that the authority was doing injustice with them. They said their file for recruitment is gathering dust in civil secretariat and that nine persons were fraudulently appointed in the power development department (PDD). The diploma holders said they are protesting against the injustices and the illegal appointments perpetrated by the administration.
The ITI association members, who took out a protest march from Press Colony to Lal Chowk through Residency Road and staged a sit-in, were ruthlessly beaten up by policemen. The police action caused disturbances at Lal Chowk for some time.
Later, the diploma holders regrouped at Press Colony and resumed their protest. They threatened to intensify their protests if their demand for recruitment was not met and the injustice in not revoked.
