VIVAnews – The allegation that Kerobokan Penitentiary, Denpasar, Bali was illegal drug distribution hub may be true. The strong indications were supported by the turmoil that happened when National Narcotics Agency (BNN) officers raided the prisoners.
The BNN’s sweeping was actually opposed by the prisoners. Coming to know that the officers were coming, the prisoners attacked them ferociously.
The prisoners tore down two cells, A and C. They ran amuck and threw the debris or anything around them at the officers.
Managed to break through the cellblock, the tens of prisoners became more brutal. They went to the penitentiary head’s office. Some important dossiers were burned. Then they also damaged some doors. They ruined and set fire to the canteen.
The prisoners’ brutality went on until 3am WITA (Indonesian Central Time), Saturday, June 25, 2011. After the situation was under control, the prisoners who were outside their cells were retuned to their place.
What measures to be taken after this incident? Kerobokan Penitentiary Head Siswanto acknowledged he was still coordinating with the police and Justice and Human Rights Ministry Bali Regional Bureau. “It is still being discussed in the meeting. Call back for the results,” said Siswanto when contacted on Saturday.
