ATC remands 28 rioters to jail

KARACHI: Administrative Judge (AJ) of Anti-Terrorism Court Karachi, Justice Maqbool Baqir of Sindh High Court, on Saturday remanded 28 accused to jail for seven days on charges of arson riots. Police arrested Noor Muhammad and 27 other protestors on allegations of attacking Korangi Industrial Area police station, Karachi, during strike against likely downsizing of work force by Karachi Electric Supply Company. The accused were booked and arrested in a case registered against them at Korangi Industrial Area police station under sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 219, 427 RW Section 7 Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. Investigation officer (IO) Chaudhry Manzoor produced them and submitted the suspects attacked police station, damaged its building and vehicles of police officials. Manzoor requested for further physical custody of all accused. AJ Justice Maqbool Baqar remanded them to jail custody. ppi
