Postal Strike in Algeria

ALGIERS (Algeria) – The Algerian postal strike entered its tenth day on Monday, now blocking the payment of salaries and pensions for millions of Algerians, noted AFP.

Algerian Postal workers, who went on strike on May 28 without notice, wanted to denounce violations of agreements reached after a first movement in April. They require an appreciation of 75% of their pay backdated to 1 January 2008 and also claimed an individual and collective bonus.

Algerian postal workers say they are “in open strike until their demands are heard.”
