JAIPUR: Chaos prevailed in Bhilwara where hundreds of workers gathered to protest against the thrashing of a salesman in the market. Around half-a-dozen people were injured in a clash with the police.
The main market area witnessed pandemonium for almost an hour where hundreds of people supporting the salesman, who was thrashed on Friday, were forcibly shutting down shops.
A salesman was allegedly thrashed by his employer trader following theft charges. Since then all salesmen working in various shops have been protesting against it.
The agitators shouted anti-trader slogans and blocked the traffic passing through the Kotwali area in the city.
As some of them barged into the shops and attempted to loot goods and cash, the police had to use force to disperse them.
“We have arrested 15 people and mild force was used to disperse the agitators,” Umesh Chand Dutta, Superintendent of Police, Bhilwara, said.
