Chapainawabganj, May 28 (bdnews24.com) — Trade at Sonamasjid Land Port has come to a halt due to Indian Export Import Association strike following the assault of an Indian driver by Bangladeshi security guards.
The association called the strike on Saturday morning, Sonamasjid-Panama Port Link Limited assistant executive director Delwar Hossain Sagor told bdnews24.com.
Some Bangladeshi security guards beat Indian truck driver Bishu Mia on Thursday night following an altercation, he said.
Bishu was given first aid at Shibganj Health Complex and then sent to India, the director added.
According to Delwar, Sonamasjid-Panama Port Link Limited security guards Kausar Ali, Farid Uddin and Jasim Uddin, and MLSS Al Amin have been out under suspension over the incident.
The port official also said the two counterparts of the port had a meeting in the noon, but it ended unsuccessfully.
