Tunisia’s unemployment rate to increase

(MENAFN) Tunisia’s Employment Minister, Said Aidi, said that as the country’s economy struggled to grow following the political unrest, unemployment rate would increase through the year 2011, reported Arab News.

Aidi added that the government would not expect creating new job opportunities until the fourth quarter, as labor situation would get worse, although the country would recruit 20,000 public sector workers before the elections, adding that unemployment rate increased to 16 percent after the protests.

He also said that in five years, Tunisia would bring jobless rate to below seven percent with the aid of international donors, where it would cost the country around USD360 million to create jobs in 2011 including tax incentives for businesses.
