Bomb defused at a bank in Santiago

Santiago de Chile, May 11 (EFE) .- The police today defused a homemade bomb placed in a bank branch in Santiago de Chile where anarchist pamphlets were found alluding to the fourteen acused in the “casa bombas” case.

This was confirmed to Efe by police, who explained that the device was placed inside a branch of Banco de Chile, located in the affluent district of Vitacura, east of the capital.

After receiving a warning call at about 10.00 am (14 GMT) on Wednesday, police went to the bank headquarters, cleared the area and managed to defuse the bomb.

The prosecutor Christián Toledo said that its composition is similar to that of another device that detonated and was not stopped in 2010 in a branch of BancoEstado in the Santiago district of Independencia.

On this occasion, according to the prosecutor, security cameras recorded the moment when, after midnight, a man dressed in black, his face covered by a hood entered the cabin of the ATM and left the bomb at the door .
