COPENHAGEN — Danish security police say they have arrested four political activists suspected of trying to set fire to a police academy in Copenhagen.
Security and Intelligence Service chief Jackob Scharf said the four suspects were caught Tuesday morning with a flare and gasoline as they tried to torch the Brondby Police Academy, on the outskirts of the Danish capital.
Scharf says the 19- to 23-year-olds, who were not named, belong to extremist, left-wing groups. He says the arrests followed a lengthy investigation and that those arrested were also suspected of being behind several “politically motivated arson attacks.”
Scharf declined to give further details.
