Rangers, police remove land encroachment

KARACHI: The personnel of law enforcement agencies removed an encroachment on land in Gulshan-e-Sikanderabad here on Thursday.

According to details, a heavy contingent of police, Rangers and port security force along with KPT and district government officials reached Gulshan-e-Sikanderabad located at Jackson area and started operation against the land grabbers who had encroached land worth billions of rupees.

Police said the operation was kicked off at around 03:00pm and continued for four hours. The parties of Keamari Town police also took part in the operation. The police said that they bulldozed over two dozens of houses during the operation.

KPT officials claimed that the land grabbers were planning to construct a housing society at the encroached land. They said the same exercise was also done at Younusabad, Machhar Colony and Hawkes Bay.

However, the inhabitants of Gulshan-e-Sikanderabad staged a protest demonstration against the operation. They pelted stones on the law enforcers and burnt tyres. The protesters also chanted slogans against the government and termed the act as unjustified. staff report.
