The anti riot and military police patrolling Jinja Municipality have fired live bullets in air to disperse crowds of opposition supporters that had gathered at Kirinya road in an attempt to stage another protest against the high fuel and food prices.
The protestors had blocked the road demanding for withdrawal of the security personnel from their area.
They started throwing stones at the anti- riot police who had to fire live bullets to disperse the growing crowds.
Today morning the anti riot police dispersed groups of boda boda riders who were pushing their motor cycles along Clive road west.
Most of the markets and shops remain closed in Jinja and the movement in the town is minimal due to heavy police and military deployment.
