Police torture victim goes on hunger strike

ISLAMABAD: A police torture victim has gone on hunger strike from Sunday April 17th in front of National Press Club Islamabad. Muhammad Javed Iqbal claimed that he on February 3rd 2011 went to SP Khurram Rasheed’s office to ask about his application that he had submitted but after exchange of a few heated words SP along with many other policemen badly tortured him. He alleged that police put him behind the bars without a trial and, while torturing, broke his teeth too. Later, SP Khurram Rasheed instructed police to register a case against him which Margalla police did registering an FIR number 72 against and arresting Iqbal. Javed, who has failed to get justice through any means, has gone on hunger strike from 17th April. staff report
