Drivers strike over high commodity and fuel prices

Tens of drivers in Lugazi Town Council along Kampala Jinja road have turned rowdy in protest of the high commodity and fuel prices.

In response the police has surrounded the tax park and started beating whoever the policemen would come across.
The police arrested dozens of the demonstrators and charged them with inciting violence and participating in an illegal assembly.

The protesters were holding placards reading thus “Ugandans are tired of the corrupt government, it is high time Museveni and group leave state power, Museveni reduce commodity prices, the government tortures opposition politicians, and the government favours only people from western Uganda…”

The police have also fired tear gas into the crowds of angry demonstrators and injured many innocent civilians in the process.
