Police uses tear gas against students in Turkey


Students of Kocaeli University staged a protest action against a rise in prices for transportation utilities.

About 200 students organized a procession on Monday presenting their demands in banners, Turkish Posta newspaper reports.

Students marched to the center of Izmit and tried to continue the demonstration near the city hall. However, police used water cannons and tear gas against the participants of demonstration. Young people were beaten with fists and batons by the police.
