PRAGUE (AP) – The umbrella organization for the Czech Republic’s major labor unions says it is launching a campaign to protest government proposed reforms.
Unions chairman Jaroslav Zavadil says the reforms of pension, health care and tax systems are unjust and will harm employees.
Unions said Friday if the campaign — “Open your eyes” — fails to force a government change of plan they are ready to organize further protests, including demonstrations. They have also not ruled out a general strike.
There was no immediate reaction from the center-right government which says the reforms are a priority on its agenda.
Talks between the government and unions are scheduled for April 21.
