Residents protest against glove factory over polluting discharge

Residents of Taman Suria in Batang Berjuntai held a demonstration against a glove manufacturing company situated just 22m from their homes, complaining that it was discharging fumes which caused health complications, Malaysia Nanban reported.

PKR public complaints bureau committee member Ahmad Bungsu Hamid Tuah said an independent laboratory test on drain water samples and water samples taken around Taman Suria revealed dangerous levels of pollutants.

The factory’s deputy managing director, Kuan Mun Leong, dismissed the claims, saying his company had always complied with DOE standards on health safety.
