Palestinian prisoners in Israel launch hunger strike

Palestinian prisoners in five Israeli jails went on a hunger strike Monday, protesting “inhuman” Israeli measures applied on them.

The prisoners complained of offending examination their families face when they come to visit and solitary confinement, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said in a statement.

The statement said the conditions in the prisons were “very bad, ” noting that many of the prisoners catch chronic diseases in custody.

Israel holds about 7,000 Palestinians in 23 jails and detention facilities.
