6 suspected members of Greek armed militant group to appear in Athens court

ATHENS, Greece — Six people arrested on suspicion of being members of a radical anarchist group responsible for a letter bomb campaign are to appear in court to be formally charged.

Tuesday’s hearing for the five men and a woman, aged between 24 and 32, will come one day they were arrested following police raids on two suspected hideouts for domestic terrorists in Athens and the central Greek city of Volos.

Three of them have been named as suspected members of the Conspiracy Nuclei of Fire group, which has claimed responsibility for letter bombs, most sent to embassies in Athens in November.

Police say ballistic tests on weapons seized in the raids show the automatic assault rifles, handguns and revolver have not been used in any terrorist attacks.
