Vendors demonstrate in Kampala

Anti riot police, military and other security organs engaged in running battles with vendors at Nakasero market.

The strike broke out after the vendors at Kisekka market have turned their wrath on the police.

They were trying to stop the police from accessing the market saying their presence usually creates tension that later degenerate into violence.

This prompted the police to fire tear gas to disperse the angry vendors.

The police are now combing the shops around Kisseka market for suspected rioters and over eight people have been arrested.

An ambulance belonging to Red Cross is also in the vicinity waiting to give first aid to any casualties.
