Two killed, hundreds injured in clashes in South Egypt

CAIRO, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — At least two were killed and several hundreds were injured in clashes between the police and the demonstrators in Egypt’s New Valley area on Tuesday night, local sources said on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the police fired gun shots on protestors in the oasis town of El Kharga, south of Cairo.

The mass anti-government protests entered its 16th day Wednesday despite the ruling National Democratic Party’s political reform measures and ongoing dialogue between the government and opposition groups.
