Jan 26, Anuradhapura: A group of prisoners in Sri Lanka’s Anuradhapura Prison has once again commenced a protest within the prison premises.
Prisons Commissioner General Major General V.R. De Silva has said a group of prisoners in the Anuradhapura Prison have commenced a hunger strike.
The latest protest by the prisoners in the Anuradhapura Prison comes just a few days after a massive protest by another group of prisoners that ended in three deaths and injuries to another 21 people including 8 prison officials.
The prisoners have reportedly commenced the hunger strike to protest against the overcrowding of wards in the prison, inadequate meals, and the inspection of food that are brought from outside the prison premises.
