Athens paralyzed by strike

Jan 10
A strike by public transport employees brought Athens to a standstill as buses, trolley buses, trams and metro trains came to a halt for several hours today.

The strike, which has been on and off for nearly a month, was called by transport workers to protest against reforms of the transport sector which provide for personnel cuts, lower wages and a 20 – 40 percent rise in fares.
