Maddhyapara strike enters 3rd day

Dinajpur, Nov 29 ( — The Maddhyapara miners have gone intot their third day of strike. The granite mining company saw its activities come to a halt as workers protested against the dismissal of five of their colleagues.

The miners went into an indefinite strike protesting the termination and demanding withdrawal of a case filed against them.

The miners and workers held a protest meeting and brought out a procession on the premises in support of their strike.

Asked whether the district administration has already taken any measures to resolve the situation, Dinajpur deputy commissioner (DC) Jamaluddin Ahmed told that he was aware of the situation.

“We must take initiative to resolve the situation if the mine authorities want it or the government directs us in this regard,” he assured.

The workers union leaders further threatened to lay siege on the roads on Tuesday if their demands are not met by Monday.
