Uganda: Over 200 Riot At City Hall Over Wages

6 November
Kampala — A rowdy crowd of angry casual workers in the Central Division on Thursday paralysed nominations at the City Hall as they rioted over the non-payment of their wages for five months.

Over 200 rioters besieged City Hall at around midday demanding to be paid for cleaning city roads under the ‘mud and dust free’ city project.

The anti-riot Police was quickly called in and to disperse the unruly crowd. It fired teargas canisters which caused a stampede as people scampered for dear life. Several people escaped with injuries.
