Anti riot police deployed at Nkumba as students plan second strike

Anti riot police is heavily deployed at Nkumba University today as the students there plot to stage a second strike in a period of less than a week.

The students are protesting the alleged take over of guild activities by the new Dean of students.

The students want their dean to resign, claiming that he has paralyzed the activities of the Guild by not allowing the students leaders to get access to guild bank accounts.

The police is guarding access to the dean’s office as students were plotting to destroy it and force the dean to resign.

Last week the Vice chancellor of Nkumba Prof. Paul Mugambi calmed the students and promised to hold a meeting with the university council and resolve the issue.
