Police round up suspected drug dealers

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A dangerous scene in Buffalo as officers rounded up a slew of suspected drug dealers during two straight days of raids.

Over the past few days, narcotics detectives have been rounding up drug suspects in Buffalo’s Central Park neighborhood.

Police in riot gear rolled up in an armored vehicle on Jewett Avenue, Tuesday afternoon.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said, “The message is we’ll continue to rid our nuisance drug houses.”

“Again, it’s an intense effort to bring back neighborhoods for residents to make neighborhoods safe for everyone,” Derenda said.

Inside an abandoned house, detectives showed us how the criminal enterprise operated.

Mayor Byron Brown destroyed a space heater as he walked through.

This two-day operation was part of his ‘Zero Tolerance’ Crime policy.

Brown said, “We’ve lost a lot of young people this year to homicides because of drug war and turf battles.”
