One member of NDFB detained
Bangalore, Oct 9, (PTI):
A member of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland in Assam has been detained here today, a top police official said.
Johny Dung (25) was detained by J P Nagar police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Sonia Narang said. Dung along with Dwimalu Khungur Daimari (25) and his wife Nisha Daimari, who are also members of the militant group were arrested yesterday, for allegedly making extortion calls from Bangalore to a businessman in Assam, Narang said.
The trio will be handed over to Assam police who arrived in the city today, she said.
KLNLF militant killed in encounter
Guwahati, Oct10 (IBNS) A hardcore Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Saturday, officials said on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army launched an operation in Uttar Borbeel area under Howraghat police station and killed the militant during encounter.
Security forces seized a 7.65 pistol and ammunitions from the slain militant.
In another incident, a member of the outfit was held by police from Jirikinding area in the district on Sunday morning.
