Slingshot attacks: Vandals shatter windows at 20 businesses in Leesburg

LEESBURG – Vandals using slingshots shattered windows at 20 businesses Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Police also said seven vehicles were entered by thieves in the south end of the city.

Capt. Rob Hicks said authorities were not certain if the vandalism and break-ins were linked. No suspects have been arrested yet in either crime spree.

He said the vandal or vandals shot marbles or stones through windows at stores on 12th, 14th, and Main streets, including the Leesburg Regional Medical Center Thrift Shop and the Christian Care Center Thrift Shop.

Other targets of the vandals’ destructive crime spree included Dunstan and Son Plumbing, Evans Shoe Repair, the Latin Café, LSBG Laundry on Citrus Boulevard, Muffler Man, Sinfully Sweet and Quality New and Used Tires.
