At least 400 inmates of the Palawan Provincial Jail started before dawn Tuesday a protest over alleged subhuman conditions inside the facility.
Radio dzBB’s Palawan affiliate reported the inmates started their action at 3:49 a.m., demanding to talk to Palawan Governor Abraham Mitra.
The report said the inmates complained of bad food and water in the jail, as well as alleged over-strictness by some of the jail guards.
Many of the inmates brought out white blankets where they wrote their demands.
Provincial officials have started talks with the inmates to address their concerns, the report said. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
