Prison protest in Trinco controlled

The situation in the Trincomalee prisons where inmates set fire to their bed sheets and pillows in protest of a raid carried out by the authorities today has been controlled, police said.

The protest came in the wake of a raid in which they found mobile phones, radios and money with the inmates.
The protest continued for more than an hour before the police were called into control the men and the air force controlled the fire.

Trinco Magistrate U.A.L. Azhar visited the scene while the police is continuing its inquires.
