A lockdown in parts of Hobart’s Risdon Prison has been lifted following a riot involving six prisoners last Wednesday.
The prison’s two maximum security units will remain in lockdown until damage caused during the riot can be repaired.
A prison spokesman has confirmed 25 maximum security prisoners are affected by the continuing restrictions.
The spokesman says prisoners can still receive visitors during the lockdown period.
The two unions representing Tasmanian prison officers say meetings to review safety at Risdon Prison are progressing.
A spokesman for the Community and Public Sector union says the review will focus on tightening security at the prison.
He says it is important there is no repeat of last week’s prisoner riot where six officers were injured.
