IT took four thugs with a hammer just minutes to smash every glass window and door of 19 shops yesterday.
The vandalism rampage began about 1.20am when the gang with a hammer ran riot through Parramatta’s Church St.
Within minutes the gang fled the scene in a dark coloured car leaving behind an estimated damage bill of $150,000.
Police seized a number of items found at the scene for forensic examination.
Detectives spent much of yesterday interviewing possible witnesses and talking to shop owners trying to establish a motive for the seemingly senseless attack.
Detectives said they were following “a number of lines of inquiry” to identify the men involved and the getaway car.
Like many shop owners Bobby Aceski arrived at his cafe, Chocolateria San Churro, to find glaziers already at work.
“We’ve got six windows here and all were smashed, next door’s got four windows and all of them were smashed.”
