SALISBURY, N.C., Sept. 10 (UPI) — A North Carolina man has been arrested on a variety of charges related to an alleged plot to bomb a clinic where abortions are performed, the FBI said.
Justin Carl Moose, 26, of Concord, was arrested Tuesday and charged with providing information on making or using a bomb to someone Moose allegedly believed intended to bomb a North Carolina clinic, salisburypost.com reported. Department of Justice and court documents indicate the other person was an FBI informant, the Web site said.
The informant told Moose he wanted to bomb a clinic because the wife of a friend was planning to go there for an abortion, an affidavit alleges.
Moose is accused of using Facebook to advocate violence against women’s healthcare facilities where abortions are available and against people who work at those clinics.
The FBI document said investigators began looking into Moose after receiving word from Planned Parenthood Association that someone was “advocating extreme violence” at clinics.
On his Facebook page, Moose wrote: “Whatever you may think about me, you’re probably right. Extremist, Radical, Fundamentalist…? Yep! Terrorist…? Well…. I prefer the term ‘freedom Fighter’. ‘End abortion by any means necessary and at any cost’. ‘Save a life, Shoot an abortionist'”
Moose posted a list of facilities nationwide where abortions are performed, calling it a list of “death camps with address. Do with it what you wish.”
His Facebook page described Moose as the father of three and said he was looking for work, McClatchy Newspapers reported.
If convicted, Moose could serve as much as 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
