2 ‘outlaws’ killed in bomb explosion in Pabna

Sep 11 (bdnews24.com) – At least two alleged outlaws have been killed and five more injured while making bombs in Pabna.

Identities of the deceased and injured could not be ascertained immediately.

Pabna police superintendent Jamil Ahmed told bdnews24.com that the extremists were holding a secret meeting in Dhanuaghata area of Faridpur Upazila. There was an explosion at around 9 pm on Friday, apparently caused by mishandling of the bomb-making materials. The two died on the spot and five sustained severe injuries.

Meanwhile, Ataikula police arrested Abdul Hakim, a local leader of Purba Bangla Communist party (ML Red Flag), a banned extremist outfit, on Friday evening.

Ataikula police chief Sirajul Islam Chowdhury told bdnews24.com that they had arrested Hakim, 47, son of Nazir Uddin of Gayeshbari village, from his residence.

Chowdhury said Hakim has 13 cases – 12 for murder and one for robbery – against him with the Ataikula Police station and 24 others with different police stations of the district.
