Sawabi police kill 3 over load shedding protest

SAWABI: Three load shedding protesters have been killed and many others injured by police in Sawabi city of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, SAMAA reported Friday.

The frequent and long electricity load shedding routines in Pakistan has irritated people and they have started to protest against it in every part of the country and police try to control them with force.

According to police sources, this incident took place in Topi area of Sawabi. Hundreds of people were protesting against the power load shedding and in between the protests angry people broke into the PESCO office. They damaged property and torched furniture.

Station House Officer(SHO) of Topi police station, Mukhtar Khan, told SAMAA that some troublemakers attacked on police officials and in the retaliatory firing of police three persons were killed and many others sustained injuries.

“The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Topi and further police force was called to control the unrest in the area.” the SHO added.
