Some 2,000 anti-riot police have been deployed in capital Bangkok and suburban areas to ensure security, national police spokesman Lieutenant General Pongsapat Pongcharoen said Wednesday, according to a Thai News Agency (TNA) report.
The ongoing deployment of the police personnel in these areas has been implemented amid the continued enforcement of the state of emergency.
On July 6, the cabinet resolved to extend the state of emergency in Bangkok and 18 other provinces of Thailand’s 76 provinces for 90 more days and lifted the emergency in five other provinces.
Meanwhile, police completed investigation over 250 cases concerned with both “red-shirt” and “yellow-shirt” groups, he said.
These completed cases include some 127 “yellow-shirt” cases and 150 “red-shirt” cases, he said.
