Vandals Sought, Fired Shots At OPPD Equipment

Jul 8
Officials in Washington County, Nebraska are asking for the public’s help in solving recent incidents of vandalism.

Both crimes involve damage to Omaha Public Power District property. The first occurred In May 2009 when an OPPD transformer and electrical meter at the intersection of County Road 13 and County Road 26 three miles north of Arlington were shot at.

A second incident was recently discovered one-and-a-half miles north of Arlington off County Road 9 where three regulators were shot several times. This may have happened several months ago, possibly at the same time as the first incident. The cost to replace the damaged equipment is estimated to be about $40,000.
